April was defined by a major protocol upgrade and an open door for new participants. Here is a recap of the month’s key highlights.
Tallinn: A Major Protocol Upgrade
The biggest news of April: Pactus Blockchain Version 1.13.0 (Tallinn) was released on April 4, 2026.
This was not a routine maintenance release. Tallinn introduced a protocol-level upgrade with one of the most requested features in Pactus history: Validator Delegation, as specified in PIP-49.
Here is what that means in plain language: before Tallinn, to become a Pactus validator, you had to own PAC tokens to stake. Now, PAC holders can delegate their tokens to validator operators, and those operators can earn block rewards without needing to buy tokens upfront.

- Validators can join without the initial capital barrier
- Everyone benefits
Important: Tallinn is a protocol upgrade. If you are still running an older version, your node will no longer participate in block production and you will stop earning rewards. Upgrade immediately.
A New Era for Participation
Following the activation of PIP-49, the team published a dedicated announcement on April 15, 2026: Validator Delegation is now live on the Pactus network.
To celebrate the launch and lower the barrier to entry even further, Pactus launched a special delegation campaign for validators not yet part of the network, including validators already active on other blockchains.
Here is what new participants receive through this program:
- 16,000 PAC in delegated stake — distributed across 16 validators (1,000 PAC each)
- Zero cost — no tokens required to get started
- 50% of block rewards — 0.5 PAC per block, paid directly to your wallet
And the infrastructure requirements? Minimal. A Pactus validator can run on just 1–2 CPU cores and even on a shared server. If you already run validators on other chains, adding Pactus to your stack is simple.
Getting started is three steps:
- Set up and launch your Pactus validator
- Share your first 16 validator addresses with the team
- Receive your delegated stake and start earning
